In light of the current medical emergencies in the country, the Virtual Outpatient Service (OPD) has been set up free nationwide for COVID-19 patients called www.medicsetu.org. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technologies (MeitY), this initiative, led by a group of non-profit associations, doctors and technical partners, is currently underway.

The companies behind this initiative include the Rotary Club of India, the Aarogya India Foundation and the NGO Manav Mitra, which are supported by technology partners such as MySenior Doctors, I-Novate and Avaya.

You can connect with your Medic Setu doctor by following the steps on the website one by one.

This video consultation service is based on Avaya’s collaborative application, Avaya Spaces, and is used by more than 1,000 volunteer physicians across the country. I-Novate customized the solution to allow physicians and patients to connect directly in a secure private virtual room.

“With urgency in mind, this app was created in 7 days, and during last week’s trial phase, 163 registered physicians saw approximately 900 patients. Virtual OPD COVID-19 Only patients are open from 9 am to 9 pm and can get a free consultation from their doctor without an appointment, ”the press release said.

MedicSetu has proven its ability to reduce demand for hospitals and plans to expand its services to 300 cities, which currently have more than 2,000 doctors on board. Doctors registered after being verified by a supporting NGO can contact each patient one by one and communicate by video conference.

The team is also looking for more organizations to participate in this noble effort and help recruit more physicians to meet the needs of their patients. The severity of the second wave of the pandemic was so great that it took a heavy toll on medical infrastructure. This initiative is about sharing the burden and providing real-time support to patients.
