Fitchburg police arrest suspect in shooting incident

FITCHBURG, Wis. (WMTV) – A man is in custody for participating in an incident shot earlier this month.

Fitchburg Police Department investigators followed up on a lead into the Oregon Road shooting incident on May 11.

Police arrested Adonius E. Paul as a suspect on Friday. A search warrant, conducted at an apartment in the 2700 block of Novation Parkway, led to the discovery of a stolen handgun.

Police continue to investigate and believe Paul exchanged gunfire with at least one occupant of a car. Investigators say that on May 11, several shots were fired in a parking lot of an apartment complex and in the area of ​​Highway 14.

Authorities say this is the fifth confirmed shooting incident in Fitchburg in 2021.

Paul made a first appearance earlier this week in Dane County Circuit Court on charges of recklessly endangering 2nd degree security, endangering security through the use of a dangerous weapon and receipt of stolen goods.
