Octavia Spencer took to her Instagram page to share the tragic news of her nephew’s death. She asked her subscribers to pray for her family
Octavia Spencer announced that her nephew had passed away and said it was the “second worst day of his life”.
The Hidden Figures actress, 52, took to Instagram to share a photo of a table top with a vase full of pink flowers.
She captioned the post: “Heartache. You wouldn’t know by this photo that today was the second worst day of my life.
“My family lost the first of the next generation of us, and we’re gutted. Grief is the most terrifying of emotions because I can’t laugh it out of it.
“I have to feel. Right now, I feel for my sister who lost her only son. Her only child. If you pray people, pray for her and my brother-in-law.”
Octavia disabled the comments section of the post as she mourned her relative.
The heartbreaking news comes just days after the Shape Of Water star celebrated her 52nd birthday on May 25.
She said the occasion was bittersweet because of the shooting at a school in Uvalde the day before which saw a gunman kill nineteen pupils and two teachers and injure seventeen others.
Octavia also mentioned the mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket on May 14, in which ten black people were killed and three others injured.
With a photo of three “Happy Birthday” balloons taken from her neighbor’s tree, she thanked people for the birthday wishes.

The iconic actress captioned the post: “Thank you all for the outpouring of well wishes and love on my 50th birthday (age IMBD [winky face]) birthday. It’s bittersweet.
“This photo was taken on my birthday. Friends stopped by to surprise me with balloons and the wind blew them up a neighbour’s tree. God knew we needed a laugh considering of the terrifying week.”
She continued: “The Buffalo and Uvalde tragedies are emblematic of a bigger problem in this nation: apathy. We have become numb to the evil genius that is gun violence. Clearly, the genius is out of the bottle but it can be stopped How?
“Well, we have to take his power!! A genie without magic is just a puff of smoke. Change the damn gun laws. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost members of their family this week.”
