Storm Reid takes you to his dorm with Amazon

Storm Reid happily wears many hats. The actress, budding producer, and sophomore at the University of Southern California isn’t just one of the most beloved characters on the incredibly popular, Emmy-nominated HBO show. Euphoriabut has roles in the next Research 2 alongside Nia Long, runs her own production company, A Seed & Wings, and is a full-time student living on campus.

We speak to her just as the 2022 Emmy nominations have been announced, and unsurprisingly, she’s thrilled to learn how one aspect of her hard work is paying off professionally.

“It’s such a blessing to be a part of Euphoria in general, but to be able to be

Fans are clamoring for more Reid as Gia Bennett, Rue’s sister who quietly battles her own feelings about the titular character’s intense drug addiction and growing estrangement from family in the wake of their father’s death. . Reid says that while she’s not on the show as much as some would like, she knows her character is leaving a needed mark.

“I think even though we don’t see Gia a lot, I think when we do seeing her is so beautiful and so nuanced,” Reid said of her character. “She really portrays the experience of a person, a young woman at that, who is going through a family member who struggles a lot with addiction and mental illness. And she’s also trying to grow herself.

“I think that’s why the show is so popular because it’s relatable,” Reid continued. “And yes, it is entertainment, so the situations are exacerbated. But to EuphoriaThe bottom line is just to have progressive conversations and try to bridge the gap between Gen Z and older generations.

While dedicating herself body and soul to her character in Euphoria and shooting other film projects, Reid enrolled as a full-time student at USC, living on campus and attending classes every day. . Between classes, homework, mid-terms and finals, plus modeling, events, filming and rehearsals, it’s a juggling act that would challenge even a seasoned adult, let alone a 19-year-old. who has just finished his first year of university.

“I mean, it’s tough,” Reid said of her balancing act. “I think I found that if I thought about everything I had to do in a week, I would be extremely overwhelmed and feel like I couldn’t get through the week without feeling major anxiety. But I think that I found out early, for my peace of mind, it really helped me to realize that I just have to take it one day at a time and take baby steps, and give myself grace.

“I try to continue with my education and just be a regular, normal teenager in school, live life, but also run a production company, act and be the face of brands. It gets a lot and sometimes I feel like I’m biting off a little more than I can chew,” she admits. “But, I always have to remember: I wouldn’t be able to do these things if I couldn’t handle it.”

While juggling her major in Cinematic Arts (for film production) and her newly chosen minor in African American Studies and her upcoming projects, she stars alongside Nia Long in the upcoming sequel to the 2018 hit. Research, Research 2 – Reid has transformed her on-campus apartment into her personal baby blue sanctuary, as she happily displays at the launch of Amazon’s Off To College collection, a nursery-style tour called Dorm Roomz. For second-grader Reid, collaboration was a no-brainer.

“I always try to align myself with campaigns and brands that are meaningful and authentic to me,” she said. “The Dorm Roomz video series is a really cool opportunity I got to be part of because not only will it help kick off Amazon’s Off to College collection, but it’ll also show a bit of my personality. campus is my sanctuary, my study room, my entertainment space I love to entertain and entertain my friends for movie nights, where we’ll all cram into my room and study.

baby blue things,” she laughed. For example, her sky blue microwave which perfectly matches the theme of her apartment. “But I’m also a big music lover and music was a big part of my freshman year, because I think it’s just escapism and a bit of an escape from academics and just bringing me back down to earth a bit.
