The leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday reprimanded the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his criticism of the opposition party.
Tinubu on Saturday described the PDP as a party without a leadership.
The former Governor of Lagos State, who spoke at the unveiling of the door-to-door Tinubu/Shettima campaign group in Abuja, also criticized the main opposition party for the corruption that has characterized its 16 years of reign in the country.
He said, “They (PDP) came there and turned it into an incubator. I wonder why they still exist as a party. These are people who are still fighting for the direction of their party, looking for the direction of the compass.
“We don’t have to worry about the PDP — the party for the development of poverty. Today, let’s lower the temperature. Now is not the time to campaign. They will hear a lot about us.
However, in a statement released by its national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party claimed that Tinubu had been intimidated by its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The party added that the APC candidate’s statement showed he was a nominal candidate (on paper) who was alarmed, uncomfortable and intimidated by Atiku.
The statement reads: “It is distressing that Asiwaju Tinubu speaks like someone under the influence with incoherent speech and absence of spirit which further exposes a lack of leadership capacity, especially at the presidential level.
“It is rather shameful that the APC presidential candidate has hinted at the national rail system which was revitalized by the PDP administration but painfully abandoned to terrorists and bandits by the APC government.
“From his inconsistent speech, the CPA presidential candidate appears to be struggling with ethical issues and ineligibility to run for office due to inconsistencies in his credentials, name, ancestry , his age and his allegations of corruption among myriad issues.
“Moreover, Nigerians have realized the futility of Asiwaju’s non-existent and heavily concocted achievements, influence, leadership prowess and skills.
“Nigerians gave Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu the benefit of the doubt, but he let them down by engineering a deceptive government leading to the ugly signs of insecurity and bloodshed, economic hardship, unemployment, disunity and low life expectancies imposed on our nation over the past seven years.”
